Sandi and her studio were featured in the national magazine “Where Women Create” in it’s Summer 2009 issue. This is where Sandi creates all of her projects, and it’s where we shoot The Scrapbook Showgram. Take a look at this terrific 8-page article. Use the controls at the top of the article to zoom, move to the next page, etc.

Hey! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading through this post reminds me of my good old room mate! He always kept chatting about this. I will forward this page to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

Sandi – Truly you have ‘heaven on earth’ in your studio!! To have a place to express your wonderful talent inside and merge it with the ocean and beach outside – nothing could be more perfect!!! I do have a question(s), though, do you use your die cutting machine anymore?? – and if so, do you keep it out? – and lastly, how do you store your dies?? Your journey through life just fascinates and encourages me (though I know little about it – it just seems so simple and straightforward)! Thanks Sandi – for YOU! Kristin
You have an a colorful studio
Your studio is beautiful and filled with color. ;]
I love your new little web casts and have always loved your projects but you need a bigger desk! I was watching the last one for May and it is hard to see sometimes because of all the “Stuff” you have all over your desk. There isn’t room to scrap because everything is in the way. I guess I am just overly desk top organized because I like lots of room to spread out ?? I just keep concentrating on the mess and not the project LOL since the only thing we see in camera is the “desk” it was hard to tell what the room looked like. I love the rest of the space just wonder why your actual work space is so cluttered ?? At least for the show I would clear it off and put just what you need off to the side within easy reach that way we can see all of the project. I do miss you on TV I don’t know why they got rid of all the craft shows and kept all the remodeling shows. Obviously they didn’t hear that people like a variety ! Then again it could be a man running it all LOL You do such lovely work and I so enjoy seeing you once again.
Hi,
I think Sandy’s desk looks like that because that is the items she uses most. I like to keep my tools handy, too. The way the desk is pushed in the corner makes me feel claustophobic though.lol
I too miss your show and some of the other craft shows. (I used to set the vcr to tape Scrapbooking when I had to be at work). That show gave me an enormous amount of inspiration and I think the confidence to share my albums. I like the diy (landscaping, remodel and decorating) stuff but am tired of the house hunting shows. Sandy do you plan to come back to TV anytime soon?
We miss you
Becky
I am so happy to see your studio, I am impressed with how organized it looks, I see your file cards. You have given me several ideas that I am not employing that will help me to get motivated and GET my space organized. PLUS, your space looks so beautiful with all the colors. It looks like a wonderful place. You must be very happy there. Thanks so much for sharing that with us Sandi. Louella Turvey
Hi Sandy, I do enjoy your showgram.I love watching you create a beautiful work of art without much measuring! I’m sure you measure some, like the 8×8 piece to go into the page protector. But all the rest was just…make it sticky….cut it…and glue it down! So simple, yet very striking. Thanks for sharing your art work with us. And I really loved nosing through your studio. I too have a very small space. However, it’s in the back end of our living room. So I have to keep it (sort of) cleaned up, and covered up in case one of the cats decides she needs to sleep on my table.
Thanks again, Jessica
Hi Jessica
know what you mean about the cats. The guys in the office next to my studio and myself took in a stray that we share and she is constantly walking across my projects…you can see her in one of the photos in this article (Alley Cat). Plus i have another cat at home and he loves every paper project, especially the ones with ribbon! Good thing they are worth all the trouble. Thanks for sharing.
I loved seeing your so very cool space! How fun to be so close to the ocean. I love how you have everything so organized. One thing I noticed that no one has asked about yet I don’t think, where did you get that awesome calendar??
Love your showgrams too, missed you from HGTV!!
Hi Gina
I have had it so long i don’t remember where i got it. It is made of metal and is rusting (beach issues) which really bums me out because i love it too. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Sandy, I really enjoyed your article and photo’s of your studio. Everything so organized. I try to keep all my scrapbooking and card supplies in order also but I have so much that I can’t remember all that I do have when I am doing a project. Any suggestions? I hope you will keep up your Showgram because it is the only show I enjoy about crafting. Thank you for all the great ideas.
Thanks for sharing the article..Surprised I missed the magazine article…I grab up anything about you as I so enjoy your technique
and end results..also am so excited about the showgram and anxiously look forward to each one…
Hi Ruth
If you look at the top photo on page 2 you can see a few rows of the Elfa storage system i use that really helps me. It is available at any Container Store (or online) and is super flexible. The wire shelving is set up along one entire wall. I put all of the like things together, like one drawer is all fabric, ribbon, buttons. Another drawer is all metals like brads, wire etc. Another is all alphabet stickers. The system uses drawers which is great because you can pull them out and see all that is inside plus the rails on the side allow you to switch out drawers anytime you want. So if i accumulate more ribbon, fabric etc and need more room i can switch out the drawer to a fatter one (providing i can lose the space somewhere else). Keeping like things together makes it much easier to find stuff when i need it. Hope this helps…good luck!
Sandi I love your studio I have all your books I try to make it ,like you I keep on doing it if it didn,t come out right I,ll do it again I,m not a quiter I,m getting there. I love your work oh, another thing when you was on diy I couldn,t wait to see what you was wearing you have beaughtful cothes, I hope you don,t mind me saying so. sara.

I wish that someday I could come to your studio, watch the filming of your videos, and sit at the feet of one of the best. Thank you so much for sharing. We are forever grateful!
Hi Melinda
you would laugh if you saw how really little my studio is…but it works for me. So glad you enjoyed the article.
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Am so glad I found you through another blog site. Used to watch you on HGTV until they took it off my satellite programs and was so upset. Love your little get a way and envy it all!! You are a great inspiration to me and to a lot of other people who enjoy your programs. Keep up the wonderful job. Thanks again for all you great ideas.
Hi Marietta
i’m glad you found us too, and thanks for the kind words!
I’m so glad I found you again. I do still watch the reruns of your shows on DIY and HGTV. It’s because of you I started scrapbooking. You are so creative and engaging. Plus your projects are easy to re-create. You keep it simple yet unique. Thanks for Scrapbooksshogram.com!
Thanks Alfreda
i know my style of scrapbooking isn’t for everyone, but i’m sure glad you like it. I’m honored to have started your scrapbooking and i’ll meet you back here every Thursday!
Loved seeing your studio! One quick question: Is that cat really scrapbooking? HaHaHa! It looks like he’s sitting there at the table ready to work. You truly are inspirational! BTW…do you ever listen to music while you scrap and if so, what kind? I think it is so cool that you play guitar and sing, too. I think we are kindred spirits! Blessings to you.
it’s funny because that cat (we named her Alley because the units sit on an alley) anyway she adopted us and now myself and the guys in the next office share her…she wanders in and out of our places and visits with everyone, but hasn’t scrapped yet (to my knowledge!)
Awesome!! Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your work space and life.
Thank you, for letting us come into Scraproom,I Really miss seeing you on air, But this so nice also.
you’re welcome Valerie
Thanks for taking a minute to share your thoughts.
Thank you so much for a glimpse into your life and your studio. Like the rest of your followers, I hope that it does all work out for you, finance wise, that way we can continue to tune into your shows, whether on tv or on the computer.
Hey Jennifer
thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Hi Sandi,
What a great article and studio. I can picture you happily creating in that wonderful space. Thanks so much for the showgram the vids are just great.
Thanks Lysa
it is a happy little place…not as much room to really spread out as i would like, but it works well enough. Thanks for watching.
I still miss your shows……they were so fun to watch and learn from. I loved seeing your studio!! I am glad you are still creating and sharing it with all of us.
Barb
i really enjoyed doing the tv show too, but it feels a little like home, having Kristy join us (she was the executive producer of my tv show). If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out her blog. Anyway, i also love doing the showgram and am glad you found us here.
Sandi, you are a big inspiration to me. I loved watching you on DIY Scrapbooking and I’m just overjoyed to find you on the net doing what you do best! Many congrats on the wonderful article and thank you for showing us around your work area!

Dear Sandi,
I agree to all the comments of all your avid fans! Of course, I am one of them! As I tour myself in you studio, I just cannot help myself but to get really “ENVY!” Because the way you did your studio was real wonderful, all properly & well arranged in the right place!
I’ve been longing to do some room makeover for my own craft room (@ my townhouse) but until now couldn’t do it, because of my hectic schedule @ work!
The only inspires me the most,as of now, is watching your show & all the great & tremendous ideas you have! So please, please never stop doing these stuff, for it inspires the life of other people, like me!
I do a lot of Scrapbook ideas & shared to my friends through their FACEBOOK & YM lately. Before I print it myself but due to financial situation, I was able to learn to do it JPEG & share it to them! (As I just learned the computer lately!) So happy & exited to see your next episode again!!! Sorry I made this too long!!:(
Your fan-atic admirer,
Emma T. Tabual
Thanks Sandy, it’s always nice to hear from you guys. I really enjoy creating the projects as much as i love sharing them with all of you…see you next Thursday.
You are awesome Sandi do not ever stop creating. It sure has helped me with my creations.
What an interesting life you’ve had. All of those experiences have made you the creative person you are. I believe the more we experience in life, the more we have to offer. So keep up the great programs. I always look forward to them.
Glad to hear it Darlene…keep it up!
Thanks for sharing Sandi. Your studio is gorgeous and you are too. Loved getting the inside scoop with pictures. You are a true inspiration!
well thanks Christie, Oft times i am as messy as my studio, but i really love having a place to work where i can leave out my mess and pick up where i left off the next day. Thanks for your kind words.
Sandi
I am speechless!
And I thought I was organized! I am going to keep this e-mail and look at it again. Thank you for sharing.
hey Peggy
Glad you weren’t so speechless you could still write here. With such a small work space I have to be pretty organized. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
What a wonderful experience to visit your studio and to see where all of your creations are developed. I always imagined you doing your “thing” in your home. Your studio is sooooo organized and cheery. Loved viewing it.
Hi Marilynn
it is fairly organized (has to be, it’s so small) and can get pretty messy, but it is such a help to have a separate studio, i am counting my blessings instead of lamenting how little it is…kinda like the cabins on that cruise ship…teeny tiny but pretty efficient.
Hi, Sandi. I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed watching your shows on the DIY network and later on HGTV. Neither station is showing your reruns in my area (Sarasota FL). I, too, have become enthralled with card marking. I love your studio & you and I am very happy you have started the Showgram. Best to you always.
Best to you too Janet and thanks so much for watching.
I have seen that a large space isn’t necessary . . . but the key is “organization” & you have brought into your space a safe place to reflect, create be a peace.
well, a larger space would be better, but this one works just fine, once i organized it. Even the shower is filled with stuff and then covered over with the tall book cases…every little space is used!
Great studio! And like Darla, I’m left wanting to see more! But with that spider of yours, you don’t have to worry about me stopping by…not even if your spider’s name is Chalotte!
glad you reminded me of Charlotte…had to take out her dead battery today and need to take a fresh one in tomorrow so she can go back to scaring my visitors…all it takes is one clap of the hands and wham! down she comes!
Oh no! These photos just left me wanting more. I want to know about your color-coded Rolodex, find out if you made that wonderul rug, and hear details about storing so much in so little space. Thanks for sharing your adorale studio with us!
Darla,
That Rolodex she featured on an episode of the Showgram, I think back in December. It is the coolest thing, kind of like a daily journal for every day of the year. You can put pictures on one side, and journal on the other. I had absolutely NO idea that Rolodex actually sells a PUNCH that will punch out the shape at the botttom of a card so the card will fit in the Rolodex! Soooo much I learned from that episode!
Hi Darla
If you click on past episodes (i think it was in January) you will find a video where i featured how to make the rolodex, with all of the info you need. Didn’t make the rug, but it is a hand painted canvas rug i found in a little place in downtown Laguna.
Enjoyed your work space but the Facebook icon placed right over the pictures is distracting and than the sign-up for subscribing to your website right where you want to read is distracting. Don’t know if it’s my laptop (which is basically a new laptop) or on your end….
I thought that you would have bigger area to work in and with.
nope, my work area is itty bitty.
Wow! I had you pictured in a HUGE, spacious studio! Now if I could just get my little room as organized as yours. I thoroughly enjoyed the peek into your work space.
hi vivian
I WISH my studio was a big spacious area (in my dreams)…glad you enjoyed a peek at it.
Wow, You do have a small space, but it’s so well organized! Everything is it’s place, I too have to make use of floor space! Thanks for sharing the article with us.
it is organized, Jessica, however everything is not always in it’s place which sometimes makes for a big fat mess…but it is definitely better than trying to work out of my home, so i’m grateful for it.
Thanks, for sharing your office I would love to have my scrapbooking supplies in the order you have them. It takes me longer to find something than to actually make it. I would like to know the rug in front of your fireplace did you make it? Is it painted on canvas? Thanks, Looking forward to more videos
it is painted on canvas but i didn’t make it i found it in a little shop in downtown Laguna years ago. It’s true, having my space organized does save a lot of time, instead of having to round up everything each time i need my supplies.
wow..you got stuff.. and a great colorful space in which to create. Love the little patio for taking a break or just pondering.
Not sure I’d care for Charlotte but to each…
thanks for sharing..
i think you might like Charlotte once you met her, she’s really very friendly (in a predatory sort of way). The patio is perfect for working outside on a nice day or eating lunch…i just love it!
Thank you for shareing, I think you are great. I miss seeing you on the air. Keep up the great work.
you’re welcome Mary
i’m glad you found us on the web…see you next Thursday
Wow, I would love to have a fun place like this for my scrapbooking/card making!! I also enjoyed your shows on tv, and am glad to have found the scrapbook showgram – look forward to it every Thursday
I really am lucky to have a dedicated space for creating, which i need to remember when i am knocking into everything. Glad you found us too!
I enjoyed the article and have enjoyed your projects over the years. My favorite is the “Gift Card” card you shared last December. I can hardly wait for your “Showgrams” every Thursday. Your Studio is delightful. Thank you for sharing your talent.
you’re welcome Lynne
it’s nice to know your favorite, always helps me when planning future episodes. Thursday is just a few days away…see you then!
Love you and love your space. Thanks for sharing this with us!
love your reply and love that you took the time to write it!
Love all that space and organization……I watched your epsiodes on HGTV and DIY and miss them as well as Carol Duvall. For the last 6 years I crafted in a motorhome and now have a 8×8 room that I’ve converted into a craft room and am having a ball
yep, even though my studio is tiny, it is still way better than trying to work on my dining room table!
Love your studio.wish i had one like it-i am working on getting me a small storage building made like a barn and making it into my scrapbook work space.
You are the greatest teacher, would love to meet you someday,do you go to any of the scrapbook conventions in Dalls ? i am going to be at The Great Scrapbook Convention in June.
Hi Skeeter
We are looking at the possibility of attending a convention when we can fit it in, but am not planning on going to Dallas. they are so much fun, i’m sure you’ll have a blast.
WOW. That’s it…just “WOW.”
Hey Bambi
sometimes that says it all!
Love it all I wish you could come and fix my studio yours looks great. My studio is out of a old playhouse that my son had when he was a little tot and now the roof links and no electric at the present time it really in a mess but yours looks great enjoy it i enjoy you and hope some day i can meet you .you are a great teacher make things look so simple . thanks for the look at your studio
my roof doesn’t leak and i do have electricity but don’t have any heat, so i use a little space heater in the winter…had it on all day today (we are such weather wimps here in so cal) Good luck getting your space functional…even though mine is little it is so helpful to have it.
